CNSAS has received new documents regarding Lucian Pahonțu's activities before 1989, following revelations by Recorder. General Ioan Dan, a former military prosecutor, stated he does not recall Pahonțu's name in the Revolution investigations. He emphasized the confusion surrounding events in Bucharest and noted that security forces received orders to shoot but did not comply. Dan mentioned that the actual shooters were likely specialists, not regular troops. The CNSAS is currently reviewing the new information, which provides more details about Pahonțu's role in the Security Forces. Traian Băsescu, who appointed Pahonțu, expressed surprise at the findings and suggested he should resign.
