Cristian-Călin Lupeș, former manager of the Sibiu Philharmonic, has been indicted for abuse of office and obtaining undue benefits. The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) reported that Lupeș allegedly signed illegal contracts for legal assistance without necessary approvals, despite having in-house legal staff. He is accused of committing multiple offenses, including signing 30 contracts with a law firm that violated legal provisions. Additionally, Mărioara Preda, responsible for financial oversight at the Philharmonic, has also been charged for approving contracts unlawfully. The actions resulted in significant financial losses for the institution, prompting civil claims from the Sibiu County Council.
