Former Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno has been sentenced to five years in prison for accepting bribes related to a hydroelectric project. He will serve his sentence under house arrest due to a physical disability. The case involves corruption during his vice presidency, linked to the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric plant. Moreno is the third former president of Ecuador to be convicted of corruption, following Rafael Correa and Jamil Mahuad. The court also ordered restitution of three times the amount obtained illegally.
