Fost ofițer SRI, afirmații controversate despre NATO și Holocaust

Cristian Troncotă, a former SRI officer, made controversial statements in Iași regarding NATO, the EU, and the Holocaust. He claimed that the strategic partnership with the U.S. is more crucial for Romania's defense than NATO, and dismissed the relevance of NATO's Article 4 and 5. Troncotă also asserted that the EU no longer exists and denied the deportation of Romanian Jewish citizens to Transnistria during the Holocaust, which was contradicted by a participant at the conference. Historian Alexandru Muraru criticized Troncotă's claims, emphasizing documented historical evidence of the Romanian regime's responsibility for Holocaust atrocities. The conference raised concerns about the authenticity of historical references used by Troncotă.
