Negoescu is a witness in the case and was present during the digital searches at DIICOT. Georgescu, currently in custody, awaits a court decision regarding his appeal against house arrest. The fraud case originated from a complaint by businessman Răzvan Leu, who claims he was deceived in a precious metals transaction. Leu was persuaded to pay a guarantee of one million euros, part of which was allegedly intended for Georgescu's presidential campaign, but the loan never materialized, leading to Leu's demand for a refund.
