Former Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan advocates for a new mechanism to reduce fuel prices by lowering excise taxes based on price fluctuations. The proposal, already validated by parliamentary committees, will be voted on in the Senate. It aims to protect consumers by adjusting excise taxes dynamically, potentially reducing them by up to 25%. The initiative also includes measures to manage the oil market crisis until 2026 and to tax exceptional profits in the sector. The final proposal, agreed upon by PSD and PNL, replaces an initial VAT reduction with a flexible excise tax system.
