As of June 2026, voluntary pension funds (Pillar III) reached assets of 8.8 billion lei, marking a 40% increase from the previous year. Most investments were local, primarily in lei. Contributions in June totaled 95 million lei, with an average of 166 lei per participant. Government bonds comprised the largest share of assets at 5.43 billion lei, followed by stocks at 2.63 billion lei. The total number of participants in these funds was 1,097,974.
