FMI: România şi Irlanda, singurele economii europene care se vor contracta în 2026
The IMF has revised Romania's economic outlook, predicting a contraction of 0.5% in 2026, making it one of the only European economies expected to shrink. The forecast for Romania's GDP growth in 2027 has also been lowered to 2.2%. The IMF highlights that only Romania and Ireland will experience negative GDP growth this year. Additionally, the current account deficit is projected to decrease to 7% of GDP, while inflation rates are expected to average 8.2% in 2026. Unemployment is anticipated to rise to 6.5% in 2026 before slightly decreasing in 2027. These updates were shared during the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, where global growth forecasts were also adjusted.
