FMI anticipează o ușoară recesiune pentru România în 2026

The IMF forecasts a slight recession for Romania in 2026, revising growth estimates from 0.7% to -0.5%. Romania and Ireland are the only European countries expected to contract. Inflation in Romania is projected to be the highest in the EU at 8.2%, with a gradual decrease to 4.1% in 2027. The current account deficit remains significant, with only Bulgaria and Cyprus having larger deficits. Unemployment is expected to reach 6.5%, higher than in neighboring countries. The IMF also notes a regional slowdown in emerging Europe due to rising energy costs and security uncertainties.
