The Olympic flame was welcomed in Dakar, Senegal, with music and dance, marking the countdown to the Youth Olympic Games. Over a hundred people gathered to celebrate the flame's arrival ahead of the event scheduled for October 31 to November 13, featuring around 2,700 young athletes competing in 35 sports. The flame was carried by 100 Senegalese women, known as "lingeer," symbolizing pride and cultural significance. IOC President Kirsty Coventry emphasized the event's importance for Senegal and Africa, highlighting the potential of the youth to impact the world. The flame's journey began in Athens, Greece, and will cover 3,600 kilometers across Senegal before the opening ceremony.
