The Romanian business environment shows increased vulnerability in the first half of 2026, with a 12.95% rise in company dissolutions. A total of 29,818 firms were dissolved, compared to 26,400 in the same period of 2025. Bucharest recorded the highest number of dissolutions at 6,402, marking a 23.81% increase. Other regions with significant dissolutions include Cluj, Ilfov, and Timiș. Conversely, Mehedinți had the lowest activity with only 146 cases. The wholesale and retail trade sector remains the most affected, despite a 13.5% decrease in dissolutions compared to 2025. In June 2026 alone, 4,394 firms were dissolved, with Bucharest leading again.
