In 2025, Moldova received approximately €1.4 billion in external funding, with Romania contributing over €86 million in grants. The majority of the funding came from loans, while grants accounted for about 49%. Key partners included the EU, World Bank, and Germany. The EU provided the largest grant amounting to €242 million and loans totaling €289 million. The energy sector received the most funding, nearly €460 million, primarily from the EU. Other sectors like the economy and education also benefited significantly. Moldova implemented 787 projects with external assistance in 2025, and since 2019, it has received around €6.8 billion in total external financial aid. The EU's Growth Plan contributed €478 million in 2025, with a total of €1.9 billion expected from 2025 to 2027.
