The Romanian government has launched the 'Diaspora invests at home' program, allocating €100 million to support Romanian entrepreneurs abroad starting businesses in Romania. The program aims to assist around 1,000 startups owned by Romanians who have lived abroad. Eligible companies must be newly established, with majority ownership by Romanian citizens who have resided abroad for at least 12 months. The funding mechanism includes bank loans with state grants covering up to 60% of the loan value. Specific financial contributions are required from the businesses, depending on the project size and the age of the entrepreneurs. The program is managed by the Investment and Development Bank.
