The interim Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced the allocation of 1.5 billion lei to municipalities lacking water and sewage services by 2026. The program, managed by the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM), will prioritize competitive project evaluations rather than a first-come, first-served basis. Key evaluation criteria include municipal contributions and project maturity, aiming to ensure that funded projects are viable and beneficial for communities. Buzoianu emphasized the importance of addressing communities at risk of infringement due to inadequate services and plans to hold public discussions with local authorities.
