Shareholders of Fondul Proprietatea have appointed SAI Muntenia Invest as the new administrator, ending Franklin Templeton's 16-year tenure. The change follows Franklin Templeton's withdrawal from the selection process. The new mandate will commence in April 2027. SAI Muntenia Invest, owned by Lion Capital, was one of three candidates in the selection process. The involvement of Lion Capital and its CEO, Bogdan Drăgoi, has raised concerns among retail investors. Drăgoi has a controversial background, having held various influential positions in finance and government. The recent shareholder meeting also saw the replacement of two representatives, with new appointments made from the Ministry of Finance. Franklin Templeton will continue managing the fund until a new administrator is appointed.
