FIFA analizează extinderea Cupei Mondiale la 64 de echipe. Cum s-ar schimba Campionatul Mondial din 2030
FIFA is considering expanding the World Cup from 48 to 64 teams for the 2030 edition, a proposal backed by Gianni Infantino. This change would significantly alter the qualification system and tournament structure. While some support the idea, others, like UEFA's Aleksander Čeferin, oppose it, citing concerns over competition balance. An expanded tournament would increase the number of matches and extend the event's duration, complicating the already busy football calendar. The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with matches also in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to celebrate the centenary of the first World Cup. The final decision on the expansion will be made by FIFA's Council after the 2026 edition.
