The Formula 1 Commission approved changes for the 2027 season, including reduced race distances and new rules for interrupted races. The total race distance will decrease from 305 to 290 kilometers, depending on the circuit length. A fixed end time for races affected by weather will be introduced, while maintaining a two-hour effective race limit. Additionally, mandatory gearbox homologation will be eliminated to allow more development freedom for suppliers. Minor adjustments to the 2026 regulations were also approved, pending FIA World Motor Sport Council approval.
