A farmer in eastern Poland has shifted from cattle farming to cultivating peonies on 65 hectares, selling them to the Netherlands for global distribution. Robert Koszel, who has a family farming tradition, started this transition in 2022 after over a decade of raising Limousin cattle. He grows peonies for both cut flowers and roots, with specific harvesting times for each. The flowers are sent to the Netherlands, where they are further distributed. To support this new venture, he invested in necessary infrastructure, including cold storage and sorting facilities for the flowers and roots.
