Starting September 1, 2026, pig and cattle breeders can apply for state aid schemes from the Ministry of Agriculture to support farms affected by the Middle East crisis. The total budget for the cattle scheme is €54.4 million, providing €68 per eligible animal. The pig sector scheme has a budget of €11.54 million, with differentiated support based on animal category. Applications will be submitted to local payment agencies, and guidelines will be published soon. The Ministry is also preparing government decisions to allocate additional funds for these schemes, addressing the challenges faced by farmers due to rising production costs and external uncertainties.
