FAO: Prețurile globale ale alimentelor au atins cel mai ridicat nivel din ianuarie 2023

In July, the global food price index reached its highest level in over three years, driven by extreme weather and conflicts affecting cereal prices. The FAO reported an increase in the index to 131.1 points, up from 130.3 in June. Cereal prices rose by 3.4%, influenced by a 5.8% increase in wheat prices due to export concerns from the Black Sea region and drought effects. Vegetable oil prices also increased by 2%, reaching their highest since June 2022, while sugar prices rose by 5.6% amid weather-related fears. Conversely, meat prices fell by 2.8% and dairy prices decreased by 0.7%.
