A man from Vrancea County faces trial for illegally practicing as an Orthodox priest in a self-established church. He operated under a foundation since 2004, despite lacking recognition from the Orthodox Church. Prosecutors allege he falsely claimed the priesthood from 2018 to 2025. The investigation began in February 2021 for fraud and unauthorized practice, later merging with another case by DIICOT. The trial is set for spring 2026.
