While many local authorities have opted to maintain substantial subsidies to keep heating prices stable, Bucharest has yet to finalize its decision. The Ministry of Energy predicts that natural gas prices for those not connected to centralized systems will remain similar to last year, despite the absence of direct price caps. In cities like Timișoara, heating costs can reach around 800 lei for a three-room apartment, influenced by outdated infrastructure and high pollution certificate costs. In contrast, Constanța offers substantial subsidies, covering nearly 75% of heating costs, allowing residents to pay only 400 lei. Most Romanians rely on individual heating systems and are concerned about potential price increases, although the Ministry assures that significant gas price hikes are unlikely this winter.
