Polish prosecutors have officially requested the extradition of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro from the United States, accused of misusing public funds. Ziobro, a prominent figure in the former conservative government, denies all allegations, claiming they are politically motivated. He is facing 26 charges related to the illegal use of public funds during his tenure from 2015 to 2023. Currently in the U.S. since May, after leaving Hungary, his extradition could strain U.S.-Poland relations. Ziobro maintains his position as deputy leader of the Law and Justice party and remains a member of the Polish Parliament. The Polish authorities have not provided further details on the extradition process.
