The government has initiated expropriation procedures in three counties for the modernization of the Caransebeș–Timișoara–Arad railway line, with compensation estimated at 4.7 million lei. The decision includes additional land needed for the project and affects private properties in 12 localities across Caraș-Severin, Timiș, and Arad counties. The total compensation will be funded by the state budget through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The modernization aims to rehabilitate approximately 162 kilometers of railway, allowing passenger trains to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h and freight trains at 120 km/h.
