Around 70 vessels are waiting near the Sulina Canal for access to Ukrainian ports to load grain for export, facing delays due to pilot shortages and priority cargoes. Following Russian attacks that blocked Black Sea ports, grain shipments have been redirected to the Danube ports, which have limited capacity. Frequent air raid alerts further disrupt operations, potentially increasing global grain prices. The current traffic capacity on the Sulina Canal is only two to three vessels per day, significantly lower than needed. Ukraine's grain exports via the Danube are currently much lower than last year's levels, despite a gradual increase in shipments.
