Two individuals were seriously injured in a powerful explosion at the Ritom hydroelectric plant in Piotta, Switzerland. The incident occurred in the old building of the plant, which is set to be replaced by a new facility by 2027. The exact circumstances and causes of the explosion are still under investigation. Emergency teams, including firefighters and a rescue helicopter, responded to the scene. The old plant, built in 1917, is currently undergoing renovations, with new electrical equipment recently installed. The new building project is estimated to cost 350 million Swiss francs.
