An explosion occurred at the Elginskoye coal deposit in Yakutia, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the incident, which happened during welding work at a nearby pumping station. The cause may be linked to a depressurization of a water tank, although another report suggested it was related to welding near a methane tank. Elga, the mining company operating the site, confirmed the incident and stated that the pumping station is significantly distanced from the main production complex. The Elginskoye deposit is one of the largest coking coal reserves globally, with over 2.2 billion tons of coal.
