An expert warns that a potential U.S. ban on diesel exports could lead to a price increase of 0.51-1.20 lei per liter in Romania. This estimate is based on scenarios considering a complete ban lasting several months. The analysis suggests that if the U.S. halts exports, Europe could see a diesel price rise of 0.10-0.25 euros per liter. The U.S. currently exports about 1.4-1.6 million barrels of diesel daily, which constitutes around 5% of global demand. The expert emphasizes the need for Romania to prepare for potential price hikes and ensure supply security, as waiting for official announcements could lead to economic shocks.
