A clinical trial in the UK will offer an Alzheimer’s drug to asymptomatic individuals at high risk of developing the disease. The study, led by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, aims to recruit 1,600 healthy adults aged 55 to 80. Participants will undergo memory tests and blood analysis to identify a specific biomarker linked to Alzheimer’s. The drug, administered intravenously, targets amyloid plaques in the brain, which are associated with cognitive decline. Previous studies suggest it may help clear these plaques. The lead researcher emphasized the need for caution, stating that the drug is still in research phases and its effectiveness remains uncertain.
