Experiment pe o Dunăre secată: Cum încearcă Austria să mențină navigația cu ajutorul unor barje încărcate cu pietriș
Austria is testing an unusual solution to maintain navigation on the Danube due to low water levels, using barges filled with gravel to direct water flow. This pilot project aims to enhance navigability by increasing water speed and reducing sediment deposits. Similar initiatives are underway in Croatia, Romania, and Bulgaria, as low water levels pose challenges for European navigation. The situation is critical, with the past year being the driest on record in Austria, affecting commercial transport and passenger vessels. Hungary and Romania are also implementing measures to address the low water levels, each with different approaches.
