On the night of October 30-31, 2023, an emergency intervention exercise named "NIGHTFALL26" took place in Bucharest, simulating a scenario where a small aircraft crashed into a residential complex. Organized by the Carusel association, the drill involved various NGOs and public institutions, testing their response to a crisis. A makeshift camp was set up in a supermarket parking lot, operational within 45 minutes, to provide medical assistance to simulated victims. Participants included volunteers acting as injured individuals, while others played roles to create realistic scenarios. The exercise aimed to improve coordination among agencies and enhance preparedness for real emergencies, reflecting on past incidents like the gas explosion in Rahova. The event highlighted the importance of community mobilization in emergency situations.
