Eurostat: Românii fumează peste media europeană
Recent Eurostat data reveals that Romania has a higher daily tobacco and nicotine product consumption rate than the EU average. In 2025, 17.6% of Romanians aged 16 and over reported daily use, a slight decrease from 2022. The EU average was 16.5%, with Bulgaria, Sweden, and Croatia having the highest rates. The consumption trend shows a decline across most EU countries, although Croatia and Lithuania saw increases. The National Institute of Public Health is running a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks associated with tobacco use.
