Eurostat: România rămâne peste media UE la consumul zilnic de tutun și produse cu nicotină

In 2025, 17.6% of Romanians aged over 16 reported daily tobacco or nicotine product use, slightly down from 2022, yet above the EU average. Eurostat data shows 16.5% of EU citizens in the same age group consumed these products daily. Male smokers accounted for 20.8%, while female smokers were at 12.6%, both showing a slight decrease. The highest daily consumption was among those aged 35-49 at 21.3%. Bulgaria, Sweden, and Croatia had the highest rates in the EU, while the Netherlands, Ireland, and Belgium had the lowest. Romania's percentage decreased from 17.9% in 2022. A public health campaign aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use.
