Romania ranks among the EU countries with the lowest fuel price increases in September 2026, according to Eurostat data. The rise in gasoline prices was only 4.2%, while the EU average was 6.7%. Diesel prices increased by 3.0% in Romania, compared to higher increases in other EU countries. Year-on-year, fuel prices in Romania rose by 29.4% compared to September 2025. In contrast, Bulgaria, Estonia, and Lithuania saw increases exceeding 40%. Overall, the EU experienced a significant annual rise of 31.4% in fuel prices, with Romania's growth being lower than many other member states.
