Eurostat: România, lider UE la călătoriile turistice interne
In 2025, Romania recorded the highest percentage of internal tourist trips in the EU, with 89% of Romanian residents traveling domestically. Eurostat data shows that EU residents made 1.2 billion trips, a 1.4% increase from the previous year, with 70% being internal trips. Spain followed Romania with 87% of internal travel, while Luxembourg had the lowest at 5%. Despite more internal trips, EU residents spent more on international travel, totaling €379.4 billion compared to €266.2 billion for domestic trips. Accommodation accounted for 34% of internal travel expenses, amounting to €90.3 billion, while transport made up 21%, or €56 billion.
