Romanian MEPs from PNL are advocating for European funds and measures to enhance defense in Romania and Bulgaria due to increased Russian attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea. The European Parliament is set to vote on a resolution aimed at improving maritime and aerial defense, mobilizing EU funds, and protecting critical infrastructure in the region. The resolution emphasizes the need for modern detection systems and the urgent mobilization of unused funds to support defense capabilities. It also calls for enhanced maritime surveillance, information sharing, and the establishment of a European naval operation to protect commercial vessels. Daniel Buda, a PNL MEP, highlighted the direct threat these attacks pose to EU security.
