Europa își construiește propriul Starlink. UE pregătește o rețea de 348 de sateliți pentru a nu mai fi dependentă de cei americani

The European Union is developing its own satellite communication network, named IRIS, to reduce reliance on SpaceX's Starlink. The project will consist of 348 satellites, providing secure communications for governments, military, and emergency services. Initial launches are set for 2029, driven by recent issues with Starlink's service in Ukraine. Germany and Belgium are key players in this initiative, with significant investments planned. The project aims to enhance secure communication capabilities by 60% for EU government users. Additionally, Germany is pursuing its own military satellite communication system, with a separate constellation planned for operational use by 2030.
