Eastern Europe has enough electricity resources for tonight's consumption, but the safety margin is decreasing daily, warns Dumitru Chisăliță. Romania faces a deficit of about 1,800 MW, while Hungary has a deficit of around 1,500 MW. Other countries like Serbia and Ukraine are also slightly deficient. Conversely, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic are expected to have production surpluses. However, the availability of energy does not ensure supply security, as it relies on various technical and operational factors. The current heatwave and drought have further strained energy production, making cross-border imports and exports crucial for regional balance. Any technical incidents or simultaneous demand spikes could complicate energy supply.
