On Wednesday, the euro reached a record high against the leu, hitting 5.278 lei on the interbank market. This surpassed the previous record of 5.268 lei set on May 6, following the fall of the Bolojan government. The leu depreciated early in the day, with the euro starting above 5.27 lei after recent stability around 5.26 lei. The Bucharest Stock Exchange opened lower, with most indices declining. The main BET index dropped by 0.17%, while some other indices showed slight gains.
