Estonia își mută trupele la 50 de km de Rusia și schimbă strategia de apărare: „Trebuie să începem de la graniță”
Estonia is reshaping its military strategy in response to the lessons learned from the Ukraine war, relocating its main infantry brigade closer to the Russian border and investing in long-range strike capabilities. The country is adopting an 'active defense' approach, aiming to counter potential attacks immediately at the border. Key changes include the permanent relocation of the 1st Infantry Brigade and the construction of a military base in Narva, which is strategically significant due to its proximity to Russia. Estonia is also acquiring advanced weaponry, including HIMARS and Chunmoo systems, to enhance its deterrence capabilities. Despite these preparations, Estonian officials do not foresee a large-scale war with Russia in the near future, but remain cautious of limited military actions that could test NATO's collective defense principles.
