The Bucharest City Council has approved a resolution mandating representatives to initiate insolvency proceedings for the Bucharest Transport Company (STB). Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the dire financial situation of STB, which has been in a state of undeclared insolvency since 2020. He criticized past management decisions that led to significant debts, including penalties for unpaid taxes. Ciucu believes that insolvency is the only viable solution to protect STB from further financial penalties and to ensure the continuity of public transport services. He highlighted the need for urgent action to prevent the city's financial collapse.
