The Bucharest General Council approved a project to increase water tariffs to fund infrastructure improvements. The increase of 0.85 lei per cubic meter aims to finance retention basins to prevent flooding. The initiative is expected to generate over 520 million euros for water and sewage infrastructure over the next decade. The funds will be used for modernization and expansion of the network to cope with urban density and flooding risks. The mayor emphasized the urgency of these investments to enhance the city's drainage system.
