A German torpedo boat from World War II, Leichte Schnellboot 6, was discovered intact in the Ionian Sea after over a decade of searches. Found at a depth of 96 meters, it is the only known surviving vessel of its class worldwide, making it significant for maritime historians and underwater archaeologists. The discovery was made by AegeanTec divers, who confirmed its identity after extensive research. The boat, constructed from aluminum for speed and maneuverability, sank in 1943 while being towed for repairs after sustaining damage from a British air raid. Its well-preserved state offers insights into German naval technology of the era.
