Romanian fencers Emma Şonţ and Natalia Constantin qualified for the main draw in the women's individual foil event at the World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong. Şonţ defeated two opponents, including a French and a Japanese fencer, and will face Italy's Alberta Santuccio next. Constantin won against a Venezuelan fencer and an Olympic champion from Estonia, setting up a match against South Korea's Sera Song. Daria Stănciulescu was eliminated in the preliminary round. Romania is represented by 11 athletes across various fencing categories at the championships.
