Elvețienii de la ABB vor moderniza sistemele de automatizare pentru a prelungi cu 30 de ani durata de viață a Unității 1 a centralei de la Cernavodă

Swiss company ABB will upgrade the control and safety systems of Unit 1 at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant in Romania, extending its operational life by 30 years. ABB was chosen by Ansaldo Nucleare for this modernization project, which will replace existing systems with ABB Ability™ System 800xA®. This upgrade aims to enhance operational reliability and long-term performance, ensuring a centralized and cyber-secure platform. The project is part of a broader rehabilitation effort for Unit 1, which has been operational since 1996. The total cost of the modernization is estimated between 1.5 and 1.7 billion euros, with completion expected by 2030.
