The Romanian Senate has approved the removal of the additional admission exam for high school, allowing admission based solely on National Assessment results. The law, which passed with 103 votes in favor, will now be promulgated. Current eighth-grade students will be admitted through a computerized allocation process, with exceptions for vocational schools. The previous provision allowing high schools to conduct their own entrance exams for up to 50% of places has been abolished. However, aptitude tests for vocational schools remain in place. The new rules will apply starting with the 2026-2027 school year, while the structure of the National Assessment remains unchanged.
