Romanian students excelled at the International Geography Olympiad 2026 in Istanbul, winning four medals, including two silver and two bronze. The competition featured participants from 50 countries. The silver medals were awarded to Mihai Macsim and Maria Moldovan, while David Gărăiman and Cristina-Daria Toderici received bronze. The Romanian team was led by professors Mihaela and Dorin Fiscutean. This achievement follows a strong performance at the European Geography Olympiad, where Romania secured eight medals.
