Elena Lasconi believes she would have won the 2024 presidential elections if the second round had taken place, claiming the cancellation benefited Călin Georgescu. She argues that this decision turned Georgescu into a martyr and increased his visibility. Lasconi expressed that the annulment was detrimental to democracy in Romania and highlighted that some voters support Georgescu due to a lack of representation in current politics. Georgescu led the first round with 22.94% of the votes, while Lasconi followed with 19.18%. The second round was scheduled for December 8, 2024, but was canceled by the Constitutional Court on December 6, 2024.
