Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of Bucharest, has declared insolvency as the only solution for the financial issues of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB). Following his statements, the General Council of Bucharest authorized representatives to request insolvency. Several companies have since filed for STB's insolvency at the Bucharest Tribunal. The mayor emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing STB's massive debts, including 1.7 billion lei owed to the tax authority. Ciucu insists he does not wish for STB's insolvency but sees it as necessary to prevent further financial collapse.
