Iran's economy contracted by 10.1% in the first quarter of the Persian year due to the ongoing war initiated by the U.S. The oil and gas extraction sector saw a significant decline of 26.4%, while industry and mining fell by 14.7%. In contrast, agricultural production increased by 2.3%. The economic downturn follows attacks on key Iranian industries, which previously contributed significantly to employment and exports. Inflation is currently at 89%, and the national currency has hit a historic low. President Massoud Pezeshkian acknowledged the country's situation has become much more challenging due to the conflict.
